• Quarrels over Pamela Jawhari leave 4 dead and 3 injured in the town of Mastita, Jbeil.
• The Free Patriotic Movement efforts yield the convening of the Eastern Christian Gathering and General Michel Aoun reiterates the importance of the Christian role in the east during his speech.
• Mass held in Zahle on the 22nd anniversary of former MP Joseph Skaff’s death in the presence of the Lebanese Forces representative MP Tony Abou Khater and other March 14 MPs. Salim Aoun attends on behalf of the Free Patriotic Movement and Elie Skaff asserts his alienation from all political alignments. Hezbollah was not invited to attend the mass.

• Sunni Sheikh Salem al-Rafei proclaims Sheikh Ahmad Al-Assira as a leader for the Sunni in a speech delivered in front of the survivors and the families of victims of Tripoli’s twin bombings. MP Mohammad Kabbara urges the referral of the crime to the Justice Council.
• Refaat Eid holds a press conference where he accuses the Information Branch of framing his father in the twin bombings case and targeting Jabal Mohsen in particular. He adds “The Information Branch shed our blood and therefore we regard the shedding of their blood as halal (permissible)”.
• Former MP Fares Soueid holds a press conference to reiterate his opposition to the blocking of Qartaba road, wondering whether or not Hezbollah supports road-blocking.

November 12

• President Michel Suleiman meets King Abdallah Bin Abdul Aziz in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in the presence of former PM Saad Hariri. The attendees underscore the need to maintain stability and the Saudi King reiterates the Kingdom’s willingness to assist in relieving the burden of Syrian refugees.
• Head of the Higher Relief Committee, Ibrahim Bashir, and his wife arrested and referred to the financial public prosecution over their alleged embezzlement of public funds.
• The Parliamentary Committee on Media and Communications holds a meeting to discuss the spy devices set up by the Israelis and urges serious action to address these violations.

November 13

• Two gunmen on a motorcycle shoot dead the pro-Hezbollah Sunni Sheikh Saadeddine Ghiyyeh in Tripoli. Hezbollah’s Secretary General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah says the assassination is aimed against the resistance and deplores the lukewarm reaction to the attack.
• Lawyer Hoda Eid, sister of Ali Eid, hands the First Investigative Military Judge Riad Abou Ghaida a medical certification citing health reasons to justify her brother’s inability to appear in court and calls for the release of his driver Ahmad al-Ali.

November 14

• Former PM Fouad Seniora deplores the assassination of Sunni Sheikh Saadeddine Ghiyyeh in Tripoli.
• Hezbollah’s Secretary General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah appears in person in front of his supporters at the Sayyed al-Shouhada compound and says that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is preventing the formation of government.
• “We won’t take part in any political operation that covers up for Hezbollah and facilitates its entry into Syria,” says former PM Saad Hariri in response to Nasrallah’s speech.
• Financial public prosecutor Judge Ali Ibrahim files a lawsuit against the Head of the Higher Relief Committee, Ibrahim Bashir, and his wife for embezzlement of public funds and money laundering. The owner of Vaocau Company, Hussein Fawaz, and his wife were also charged together with the two suspects, and all four were referred to the Investigative Judge in Beirut.

November 16

• Hezbollah’s Secretary General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah appears in person during a religious ceremony held in the Southern Suburbs on the Day of Ashura and asserts that he who ties the formation of government to Hezbollah’s withdrawal from Syria is flogging a dead horse, adding that the party does not need any cover from anyone for its weapons or presence in Syria.
• In response to Nasrallah’s speech, former PM Saad Hariri holds Hezbollah responsible for the intervention in Syria and all its spillovers into Lebanon.
• President Michel Suleiman sponsors the launching of the book on the visit of His Holiness Pope Benedict XVI to Lebanon.
• Iranian Ambassador receives MP Suleiman Frangieh who brands the Intelligence Branch as a mistrusted militia and accuses it of fabricating the allegations against previous MP Ali Eid.
• Individual clashes in Aisha Bakkar, Beirut, leave 4 injured.
• The detainees over Abra’s incidents moved from Rihaniyeh Military Prison to Jezzine Prison and a delegation of their families visits MP Bahiyah Hariri to thank her for her efforts.

November 18

• The March 14 coalition candidate, George Jreij, elected as the new head of the Beirut Bar Association at the Justice Palace following victory against his March 8 rival Fadi Barakat. The tally was 2664 against 1439 out of a total 4794 votes.
• 20,000 Syrian refugees flock from the Syrian town of Qalamoun into Arsal for fear of potential strikes.
• Tripoli’s security plan launched amidst clashes between the army and gunmen in Bab el-Tebbaneh. The plan stipulates the deployment of 500 members of the Internal Security Forces in Bab el-Tebbaneh and Jabal Mohsen.

• Two suicide bombers explode themselves in front of the Iranian Embassy in the Jnah area in Beirut, injuring 147 people and killing 25 others including the Iranian Cultural Attaché. The al-Qaeda –linked Abdulla Azzam Brigades claim responsibility for the attack in a voice recording by Sheikh Sirajeddine Zureiqat who was arrested by the Lebanese Army but then released a year ago.
• The Future Bloc demands the referral of the Jnah attack to the Justice Council and views in Nasrallah’s words and Hezbollah’s deviations a threat to the existence of Lebanon.
• The Lebanese Army arrests 14 Syrians and Algerians in the fringes of Arsal.
• President Michel Suleiman warns from the implications of Lebanon’s refugee crisis in his speech during the Arab-African summit.

November 21

• The Highest Defense Council convenes in Baabda and condemns the attack against the Iranian Embassy.
• Speaker Nabih Berri adjourns parliamentary session until December 18.
• Iranian officials, including Iranian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Hussein Amir Abdel Lahyan, accept condolences over the death of the bombing victims. Britain’s Ambassador to Lebanon Tom Flitcher shows solidarity by offering condolences at the Iranian Embassy.

• Sources report that the suicide bombers who blew themselves up near the Iranian Embassy spent Monday at the Four Points Hotel in Verdun and the Lebanese Army circulate the photo of a fugitive linked to the bombings.
• Caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati meets his Turkish counterpart in Turkey and urges the reconsideration of the refugee file because Lebanon has grown incapable of accommodating them.
• President Michel Suleiman, MP Suleiman Frangieh, Minister Mohammad Safadi and delegations from the Future Movement and the PSP extend their condolences at the Iranian Embassy.
• The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia urges its nationals to leave Lebanon.

• A military parade marks the ceremony held at the Chafik Wazzan Avenue on the 70th anniversary of Lebanon’s independence in the presence of President Michel Suleiman, Speaker Nabih Berri, Caretaker PM Najib Mikati and PM-designate Tamam Salam.
• DNA test results reveal the identities of the two suicide bombers who targeted the Iranian Embassy in Beirut. The first is a Lebanese from Saida named Moueen Abou Dahr and the second is a Palestinian named Adanan Mohamad. Both were born in 1992 and are said to have been supporters of Sheikh Ahmad el-Assir.
• During a speech at Biel marking the 77th anniversary of the establishment of the Phalanges Party, former President of the Republic Amine Gemayel says that Hezbollah is exposing itself and Lebanon to what’s beyond their endurance capacity.
• Speaker Nabih Berri arrives in Iran for an official visit.
• Kidnappers of Mohammed Salman Chmostar call his family from a Syrian number and demand a ransom of USD 2 million.
• Minister of National Defense Fayez Ghosn affirms on Al-Jadeed TV the presence of Al-Qaeda members in Lebanon.

November 26

• Disputes erupt between pro-March 8 and pro-March 14 students at St. Joseph University in Beirut in the wake of the student election results. The quarrel began following the comments sprayed on the university walls in support of Habib Chartouni. MP Sami Gemayel urges the university’s administration to assume its responsibility and LF Leader Samir Gegea says that they will not be responsible for what happens next if no actions are taken to curb the provocations. The university administration announces the suspension of classes.
• Speaker Nabih Berri continues his visit to Iran and meets his counterpart Ali Larijani and Iranian President Hassan Rouhani, hoping that the Iranian-American agreement will bring about internal agreements.
• MP Walid Jumbat refuses to link between the attack against the Iranian Embassy and Hezbollah’s activism in Syria, asserting the presence of Al-Qaeda in Lebanon.
• Bkerki Patriarchate media senior Walid Ghayyad denies the rumors claiming that Patriarch al- Rai intends to resign in order to take over the post of Cardinal Leonardo Sandri at the Vatican.

November 27

• Lebanese Customs’ agents beat journalist Riad Kobeissi and Al-Jadeed TV crew after denying them entry to interview the Customs’ Director General. The journalists were working on a report about corruption among customs officials at Beirut’s International Airport and used a megaphone to heckle customs officials outside their heavily guarded offices around noon. The security forces release Kobeissi and his colleagues after interrogating them.
• The repercussions of the St. Joseph University incident continue and MP Hassan Fadlallah accuses March 14 Forces of instigation, refusing the slogans maintaining that the St. Joseph University is Bachir Gemayel’s university.
• Minister of Energy and Water tells As-Safir that the bids for oil and gas exploration will be held even if the Cabinet fails to convene.
• Maronite Patriarch Mar Bechara Boutros Al-Rai returns from Rome, denying any intention to resign.
