Directorate General of Cadastral Affairs-Budget at LBP 15 billion and 550 jobs
Establishment
The Directorate General of Cadastral Affairs was established pursuant to Law No. 424 dated June 6, 2002. It is mandated to administer and regulate the Land Registry’s work and cadastral surveying as well as to manage the disposition and sale of the state’s immovable properties, the foreign acquisition of title deeds and the cadastral information system.
It was not until 2007 that Decree No. 70 effective as of February 22, 2007 was issued to organize the structure of the Directorate General.
Structure and Staff
The Directorate General of Cadastral Affairs consists of:
- Al-Diwan Department
- A Central Cadastral Secretariat at the center of each Mohafaza
- Land Surveying Department
- State’s Private Immovable Property Department
- IT Department
There are 550 staff members at the Directorate General of Cadastral Affairs distributed as follows:
- Grade 1: 1 (the Director General is Maronite by convention)
- Grade 2: 11 (3 heads of department and 8 heads of the central cadastral secretariats)
- Grade 3: 86 jobs
- Grade 4: 395 jobs
- Grade 5: 57 jobs

Budget
The budget of the Directorate General of Cadastral Affairs is listed under Chapter 4 within the Ministry of Finance’s budget. In 2012, the Directorate’s budget stood at nearly LBP 15 billion distributed as follows:
- Salaries and allocations: LBP 4,125 million
- Fees for services: LBP 2,700 million
- Office rent: LBP 1500 million
- Publications: LBP 1500 million
- IT and technical equipment: LBP 1,060 million
- Supervision of land surveying and measurement: LBP 1000 million
- Equipment and office maintenance: LBP 750 million
- Office stationery: LBP 700 million
- Furniture: LBP 500 million
