696 days of vacuum

General Michel Aoun was elected President of Lebanon on October 31, 2016. Until the birth of new government on September 10, 2021, his era has been witnessing four governments, two resignations of PM-designate and 696 days of caretaker governance or 40% of his presidential term. The following table shows that Hassan Diab’s government has been in caretaker mode for 366 days, the longest period in the history of Lebanese governments, preceded by Najib Mikati’s government in 2013, which served in caretaker capacity for 315 days.
