Opening and closing times of barbershops
Once upon a time in Lebanon (6)
Lebanese officials were fully concerned about their people’s lives in the past. They set the opening and closing times of barbershops, allowing the owners to work and rest together as well as to give their clients sufficient time to visit the place.
Legislative Decree No. 1 was issued to specify the opening and closing hours, ensure the implementation of provisions and impose fines on violations.
Opening dates and hours:
- From 1st of November to 1st of March:
-From 7:30 a.m. until 12:00 p.m.
-From 1:30 p.m. until 6:30 p.m., i.e. 9 and a half hours of work.
- From 2nd of March until October 31:
- From 7:30 a.m. until 12:00 p.m.
- From 1:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m., i.e. 11 and a half hours of work.
Barbershops are closed on Mondays in all regions except in Beirut where they close at 1:30 p.m.
In summer (from 1st of July to October 15), they close their doors on Sundays and Mondays afternoon starting 12:00 p.m.
In the event of any contravention of the provisions above, the owners shall pay a fine of LBP 10 that will double if repeated (LBP 20) and close their barbershops for 10 days at the third time.
This Decree and its implementation is an example of good organization and proper planning.
