Lebanon’s governments comprise 3 to 30 ministers

While discussing the formation of a Lebanese government, numerous disputes arise between the heads of state and political and parliamentary parties and forces over the distribution of portfolios among sects and forces, the selection of ministers and MPs and the government’s size (a mini, small, medium-sized, big or jumbo-sized government). Since the 1943 independence until the formation of Hassan Diab’s government, Lebanon had witnessed 76 governments, with each of them composed of 3 to 30 ministers (including the Prime Minister).

As shown below, the largest number of governments (16) included 10 ministers, 14 governments consisted of 8 ministers and 12 governments had 30 ministers. This means that the majority of governments were medium-sized, big or jumbo-sized.
