Lebanon highest record for suicides in 2018

Almost daily, we hear about a person who committed suicide either by poison or by gunshot. Reasons for committing suicide are many: some are unknown and some others stem from financial, emotional, and psychological problems.

A large number of suicides (23) was registered in May 2018 compared to the previous months. The table below shows a significant increase in the number of suicides in 2018. It might reach up to 200 compared to 2017, the year in which 143 deaths were officially recorded as suicides.
