Real Estate Prices - December 2013

Much like the general economic situation, the real estate market has closed a losing year with great disappointments. Given that this sector in particular has in the past managed to maintain momentum even in the gloomiest and most difficult times, it seems that the present paralysis can be attributed more to the price increases that have affected the property market since 2006/7 rather than to the security turmoil in Lebanon and the region. There are no signs of potential price decreases currently, which means that the state of the market will remain unchanged until the return of new investments. Otherwise, the market will need years to come to terms with the previous price increases before it recovers.

Table 1 and 2 illustrate the prices of some estates and apartments sold in December 2013.
