Mobile phone revenues to municipalities-LBP 667 billion
Worth of revenues
Revenues owed to municipalities from the profits made by the mobile phone sector amounted to LBP 667 billion, distributed as follows:
1- 10% equaling roughly LBP 66.7 billion to be allocated to municipal unions on the basis of the registered population within the scope of the municipalities of the union.
2- 90% equaling roughly LBP 600.3 billion to be allocated to municipalities as follows:
80% on the basis of the registered population within the boundaries of each municipalities
20% on the basis of the allocations distributed to municipalities from the fixed line call revenues in the previous year, i.e. in 2013.
Shares of the largest municipalities
The Beirut Municipality has obtained the largest share at roughly LBP 92.4 billion while the rest of shares break down as illustrated in Table 1.
Distribution of revenues by Qada’a
By Qada’a, the Qada’a of Akkar obtained the lion’s share of revenues at LBP 47 billion while the Qada’a of Bsharri obtained the lowest at LBP 7 billion as illustrated in Table 2.
