Shafshak Families-Sunni in North Lebanon
Etymology
‘Shafashek’ is the Arabic plural of ‘shafshak’. Shafshak is synonymous to ‘dawraq’, which is a glass flask for water or fluids. It also means the small hat worn by hermits.
Members
The Shafshaqs/ Al-Shafshaqs are estimated at roughly 190 members. The presence of this small Sunni family is confined within the north area, the majority being in the town of Hazmieh.
