Medlej Family-Shia’a, Maronites and a Sunni Minority
Semantically, Medlej is the person who walks at night. Lebanese families- Shia’a, Maronite and Sunni- present originally in Baalbeck and Hermel, have also assumed the name Medlej. The Medlejs total roughly 2100 members. They are dispersed in several Lebanese towns and sects. The majority, 1625 people, are Shia’a. The rest are Maronites, 420, and Sunni, 25.
 
The Shia’a Medlej members are present in:
-    Al-Qasr, Hermel: 750    
-    Nabha Al-Harfoush. Baalbeck: 330 
-    Kfarreman, Nabatieh: 250
-    Hrabta, Baalbeck: 90
-    Temnin Al-Tahta, Baalbeck: 65
-    Wadi Faara, Baalbeck: 45
-    Hay Al-Hara, Hermel : 40
-    Tyre: 30
-    Deir Kifa, Tyre: 25
 
The Maronites are present in:
-    Qaytouli, Jezzine: 202
-    Bassous, Aley: 105
-    Aqtanit, Saida: 60
-    Labaa, Jezzine: 53
 
The Sunni consist of 25 members, all present in Dawras, Baalbeck.
