 - The patriarchs of the Levant open the sessions of the Holy Synod of Antioch in Balamand.
 - The Special Tribunal for Lebanon (STL) continues its hearings and forensic findings reveal that the laboratory tests have indicated that the suicide bomber who carried out the Hariri assassination is a non-Lebanese.
 - PM Tamam Salam tells Al-Jazira that, amid the presidential void, the situation is not very encouraging to hold parliamentary elections.
 Following the meeting of the Central Security Council, Minister of the Interior and Municipalities Nouhad Mashnouq, announces that the security situation remains intact adding that the security apparatuses are vigilant and continue to work in close coordination. 
 - The Lebanese Forces (LF) leader, Samir Geagea, calls on MPs to attend Parliament and elect a new president of the republic instead of wasting time with delusive proposals.
 - Sheikh Sirajeddine Zuraiqat of the Abdullah Azzam Brigades threatens further attacks should Hezbollah refuse to retreat from Syria.
 - The judiciary sentences Tamara Harisi’s husband to nine months in prison and fines him LBP 20 million, a ruling that is considered one of a kind as far as domestic violence is concerned. 
 
July 2
- Parliament adjourns its eighth session dedicated to elect a president until July 23 due to a lack of quorum. The discourse of the March 14 Forces attendees focuses on rejecting the calls of General Michel Aoun for an amendment of the constitution and the Lebanese Forces MPs are among the major opponents.
 - The LF leader Samir Geagea views that Aoun’s proposition to amend the Lebanese Constitution is neither in the right place nor at the right time, stating that the early parliamentary elections are the solution for the current presidential void. 
 - Forensic doctor, Fouad Ayyoub, asserts before the STL that no human remains of Abou Addas were found at the Hariri assassination crime scene.
 -The Minister of Public Health, Wael Bou Faour, unveils a new electronic strategy to audit hospital bills. In the case where over-priced bills are detected, the violating hospitals shall be fined and demoted.
 -President of the Association of Banks in Lebanon, Francois Bassil, stands in court for defaming MPs following the charges filed against him by MP Hany Qoubeissy.
 - The Lebanese Army cracks down on an apartment in Tareeq Jdideh and arrests a Jordanian dentist on charges of terrorism.
 - PM Tamam Salam chairs a security meeting at the Grand Serail to discuss action plans against terrorism.
 -  Minister of the Interior and Municipalities Nouhad Mashnouq examines the situation in Tripoli with a delegation of the Muslim Scholars Committee chaired by Sheikh Malek Jdeideh.
 
July 3
 - After agreement over the mechanism of its action amid presidential void, the Cabinet convenes and approves 150 decrees signed by all ministers. The discussion, which tackled the Lebanese University dossier and the Syrian refugee crisis, was put off until later amid the objection of the Phalanges Party over the LU dossier.
 - A UN report forecasts that the estimated number of Syrian refugees will become 1.5 million by the end of this year.
 - The Ahrar As-Sunna Brigade in Baalbeck  and the An-Nussra Front in Qalamoun post statements on Twitter and You-Tube threatening Hezbollah and warning that they might tear down churches in Beqa’a.
 - Banque de L’Industrie et du Travail  (BIT Bank) and the Near East Commercial Bank announce a merger between the two lenders which will bring the total assets of the new bank to USD 1.1 billion. 
 
July 4
 “- The impromptu call for the alteration of the system will complicate things. What is required today is to save Lebanon, not to involve it in further conflicts,” says former PM Fouad Seniora during an Iftar celebration held in Saida.
 - Former PM Najib Mikati views that the current situation is inappropriate for the proposition of constitutional amendments. In response to the statement made by Minister Gebran Bassil, Mikati reiterates that the dissociation policy adopted by his government was the most appropriate solution to spare Lebanon the spillovers of the Syrian crisis.
 - Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants, Gebran Bassil, urges during his press conference a speedy solution for the Syrian refugee crisis, suggesting that the refugee camps should be established in Syria, not Lebanon, and warning that the refugees account now for more than 35% of the Lebanese population. Bassil calls on the Syrian ambassador to abide by the principles of diplomatic practice.
 
July 5
 -  “Any venture aimed at bringing down the Taef Accord might yield massive constitutional, political and security slumps,” says Minister of Public Health Wael Bou Faour during his inspection of the restoration works at the Khirbet Qanafar Governmental Hospital.
 -  The anti-Qabbani Higher Islamic Council brands the threatening statements as a fabricated campaign and a distortion of Islam.
 -  The Maronite League holds a conference entitled “My Land, My Identity” and aimed at warning from the risks of selling land.
 
July 6
 - The residents of Saida, Eqleem El-Kharroub and Eqlim El-Teffah feel the tremors of a 4.1 magnitude earthquake that hit the eastern coast of the Mediterranean Sea.
 - SOLIDERE reports that its net profits in 2013 jumped to USD 39.7 million up from USD 16 million in 2012. The company’s assets are now worth USD 8.9 billion.
 - Minister of the Interior and Municipalities Nouhad Mashnouq announces that his ministry is handling all the administrative procedures necessary to hold the parliamentary elections on time. 
 - The Ahrar As-Sunna Brigade sends threats against Minister of the Interior and the Municipalities Nouhad Mashnouq.
 
July 7
 - Minister of Finance Ali Hassan Khalil says at a press conference that the salaries of the public sector employees are available but it is the reimbursement legal cover that is lacking. Khalil asserts that he will not commit any of the violations that had happened in the past, urging MPs to approve the required credits in Parliament and holding Eléctricité du Liban responsible for the deficit and the failure of the institution.
 - Families of the Islamic inmates at the Roumieh Prison stage a sit-in at the Nour Square in Tripoli protesting over the continuous imprisonment of their sons and passing on the responsibility of their release to the Future Bloc and to the city’s ministers and MPs.
 - MP Hany Qoubeissy retracts the lawsuit he filed against President of the Association of Banks in Lebanon, Francois Bassil, after the latter’s speech during a solidarity celebration held in Byblos where he extended respect and support for the Lebanese Parliament.
 - Libya and Lebanon sign a memorandum of understanding vowing more action on Moussa Sadr case. 
 
July 8
 - In cooperation with the Lebanese military forces, the Palestinian joint security forces are deployed at the Ain El-Helwi camp to maintain order and stability at the camp.
 - The Lebanese football fans stage nocturnal rallies in celebration of the smashing 7-1 victory of Germany over Brazil in World Cup semi-final.
 - The Future Bloc reports during its weekly meeting that the legal cover for salary reimbursement resides within the government, urging the release of the detainees and slamming the violations and arrests happening in Tripoli. The Bloc also criticizes Hezbollah for what it called the military show in northern Beqa’a.
 - The Change and Reform Bloc views, following its weekly meeting, that the responses to General Michel Aoun’s proposition were both hasty and heedless, voicing support of the position of the Minister of Finance Ali Hassan Khalil regarding the need of a legal cover for spending.
 - The Islamic State group threatens the judges of Lebanon and promises the release of what it called the “Islamist detainees” at the Roumieh Prison.

 - During talks with his visitors, Speaker Nabih Berri says that Parliament is sitting out on the bench, reiterating his objection to the extension of the legislature’s term and supporting the holding of elections on time, even if according to the 1960s electoral law.
 
July 9
 - - The Union Coordination Committee threatens to disrupt the upcoming academic year starting in September if Parliament fails to approve the salary scale.
 - MP Mohammad Qabbani chairs a meeting of the Committee of Public Works and Transport in Parliament that concludes with announcing a state of water emergency. The measures suggested to address the shortage include, inter alia, the need to import water from Turkey and to take control of privately owned wells after compensating their owners.
 - The Minister of Social Affairs, Rashid Derbas, and the UNHCR deny the statements reporting an alleged attempt to nationalize 100,000 Syrian refugees. 
 - Tensions flare up in Tripoli following news about the deteriorating health of Tripoli’s front leader, Ziad Alouki, who is detained at the Roumieh Prison.  
 - Former President General Michel Suleiman resumes his political activity after returning from France and meets a number of ministers, emphasizing that the highest priority is to elect a new president of the republic
 
July 10
 - The Cabinet convenes at the Grand Serail under the chairmanship of PM Tamam Salam without approving the LU full-time employment dossier or the appointment of LU faculty deans, thus hindering the approval of other items on the Cabinet agenda.  The session concludes of with the appointment in 10,000 members in the Lebanese security forces.
 - The Lebanese University’s hourly-paid employees stage a protest in Riad Solh square, demanding the government to grant them full-time contracts.
Sit-ins and protests staged in Beirut and the Palestinian camps in condemnation of the Israeli war on Gaza.
 - Following its meeting at the residence of MP Mohammad Kabbara, the National Islamic Gathering in Tripoli expresses objection to the random arrests carried out by the Lebanese security forces in the city, slamming them as a ‘persecution against the Sunnis that would eventually lead to explosion.”
 - Minister of the Interior and the Municipalities Nouhad Mashnouq asserts to Reuters that the exceptional security measures have thwarted three operations targeting Lebanon. Mashnouq expects the presidential void to last six months at the very least.
 - Army Commander Jean Qahwaji visits Maronite Patriarch Mar Bechara Boutros al-Rai in Diman and briefs him on the latest security news.
The US Department of the Treasury sanctions Stars Group Holding, a Lebanese firm owned by brothers Kamel and Issam Amhaz, branding it as a front company for Hezbollah supplying the Lebanese party with military equipment to develop drones.
 
July 11
 - The Lebanese Army arrests the two Lebanese suspects who fired rockets from Lebanon towards Israel at dawn.  The suspects come from the town of Hebbariyeh and one of them is a member of the Islamic Jama’a. Israel retaliates by firing 25 missiles towards the outskirts of the town of Kafarshouba.
 - The protests staged in Tripoli to push for the release of Roumieh inmates expand towards Jabal Mohsen amid escalating demands for general amnesty.
 - MP Walid Jumblat emphasizes during a ceremony held at the residence of former President Elias Hrawi where he was honored with the annual Hrawi award that Lebanon cannot avoid the spillovers of the Syrian crisis except after the retreat of the involved Lebanese parties from the conflict, adding that the future president should proceed from the same postulates held by former president Michel Suleiman.
 - The Ramgavar Party criticizes former President Amine Gemayel’s visit to Azerbaijan and his meeting with the President Ilham Aliyev.
 - First military investigative judge Riad Abou Ghaida issues indictment in the events of Tripoli, sentencing Refaat Eid and four other front leaders in Jabal Mohsen to death on charges of murder and terrorism.

July 12
 - Sheikhs from the Muslim Scholars Committee and a number of residents protest in front of the Manara Hospital to demand the release of Hussein Atwi who sustained burns while launching rockets towards Israel two days ago.
 - New footage shows Salafist Sheikh Ahmad lashing out at the Future Movement and branding it as a liberal party that does not represent the Sunni.
 - Israel retaliates against the three rockets launched at night from Sahl El-Qlayleh near Tyre by bombing areas in the towns of Zebqin and Shame’e.
 - Protestors remove their tents and reopen the road in Tripoli following political promises vowing the release of the innocent inmates from Roumieh Prison.

July 13

 - French Ambassador emphasizes that it would be unnatural if Lebanon gets accustomed to the void in the presidential seat.
 
July 14
 “- We have committed a sin by not electing a president of the republic and it has had negative implications on Parliament,” says Minister of Justice, Ashraf Rifi, after making the rounds at the Justice Palace, adding that he expects the elections to take place in three months.
 - During a reception marking the French National Day, French Ambassador Patrice Paoli reiterates that the election of a president of the Lebanese republic is one of the highest priorities.
 - Renewed rockets originating from Sahl El-Qlayleh land in Israel, which fires back by shelling the towns of Al-Mansouri and Zebqin.
 - Clashes raging between Hezbollah and An-Nussra Front in the border town of Qalamoun result in the death of number of troops from both sides.
 - Military investigative judge Fadi Sawan orders death penalty for 23 people convicted of terrorism offences, including Naim Abbas, Jamal Daftardar and Joumana Houmeid who was caught driving a car laden with explosives.
 - Mount Lebanon’s Criminal Court releases Abdul Latif Fneish, brother of Minister of State Mohammad Fneish, who was convicted of illegally importing spoiled medicine, on bail worth  LBP 5 million. 
 
July 15
 “- The fire is approaching and the worse is yet to come,” says Speaker Nabih Berri to An-Nahar, urging the election of a president within days, not months.
- v A sudden breakdown disrupts the usual power rationing schedule for Beirut and other areas leading to longer hours of power outage.
 - Head of the Association of Private Hospitals, Suleiman Haroun, says that the state institutions owed Lebanese private hospitals a total of LBP 1300 billion until April 30, 2014, of which LBP 500 billion was due from the National Social Security Fund alone. 
 - The Director General of General Security, Major General Abbas Ibrahim, and the Director General of State Security George Qaraa, each lay their mothers to rest.
 
July 16
 - The General Secretariat of the March 14 Forces considers in the statement  following its meeting that the delay in electing a new president of the republic puts Lebanon at the risk of returning to Civil War.
 - Patriarch al-Rai discusses the presidential elections with Patriarch al-Rai in Diman.
 - MP Walid Jumblat denies his alleged withdrawal of Henry Helou’s nomination, stressing that this nomination provides the sole exit from the current presidential crisis. 
 - The Katyusha rocket fired from Al-Arqoub area towards Israel lands in Al-Khiyam, failing to reach its intended destination.
 
July 17
 - PM Tamam Salam holds talks and discussions with ministers and political leaders to facilitate the convening of the Cabinet.
 - Former PM Fouad Seniora meets in Cairo with President Abdul Fattah Sisi.
 - Speaker Nabih Berri calls for a session to elect a new president of the republic next Wednesday and As-Safir quotes him by saying ‘what are MPs doing except getting paid?’.
 - Gerhard Geyer, a German auto expert has identified fragments of a vehicle found at the scene of the Hariri assassination as in all likelihood belonging to a Mitsubishi Canter van.

July 18
 - Former PM Saad Hariri appears in a televised speech during the central Iftar celebration held by the Future Movement at BIEL, Beirut, and different areas, announcing a road map starting with presidential elections, then the formation of a new government and the holding of parliamentary elections. Hariri renews his objection to the legislature’s term extension and urges Hezbollah to withdraw from Syria, refusing to transform the Sunni into an incubator for terrorism.
 - Al Maqassed Association holds its Iftar celebration under the patronage of PM Tamam Salam who asserts his adherence to office despite all the difficulties.
 - Battles continue to rage between An-Nusra Front and Hezbollah along the Anti-Lebanon terrains.
 - Bulgarian authorities identify the third perpetrator of the 2012 Burgas bombing as Mohamad Hassan El Husseini, a dual citizen of Lebanon and France who is a member of Hezbollah.

July 19
 - Minister of Justice Ashraf Rifi calls on the Public Prosecution to begin investigations into  the Syrian child abuse video  and the security forces arrest the perpetrators.
 - President of the INTERPOL Foundation for a Safer World, Elias Murr, and Secretary General of INTERPOL visit Patriarch al-Rai and bishop Elias Awde. Murr emphasizes Lebanon’s need for a head of state and for young zeal.

July 20

 - Leftist forces call for a demonstration in front of the US embassy in Awkar in protest of the US support of Israel’s war on Gaza.
 - PM Tamam Salam receives a delegation of the Muslim Scholars Committee and the scholars voice their objection to the attempts to elect Sheikh Abdul Lateef as Grand Mufti.

July 21
 - PM Najib Mikati announces the establishment of a USD 25 million investment fund for Tripoli meant for developing the city and providing employment opportunities.
 - The meeting of the National Islamic Gathering at MP Mohammad Kabbara’s residence refuses the random arrests carried out upon the commands of what he called the party of weapons (Hezbollah) and urges the release of Houssam Sabbagh.
 - Lebanese TV airs unified news bulletin for Gaza in response to the initiative launched by the publisher and editor in chief of As-Safir, Talal Salman.
 - Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants Gebran Bassil holds an Iftar at his residence in Batroun in the presence of politician and religious scholars including Mufti Sheikh Malek Shaar and Jaafar Mohammad Hussein Fadlallah.
 - The Christian Gathering of Beit Anya, which has close ties with General Michel Aoun, criticizes the initiative of former PM Saad Hariri and brands it as an attempt to bring down the national charter. Hariri’s office replies by saying that the Gathering has distorted the talk of Hariri thus misinterpreting the initiative.
 - Monther Hassan buried in his hometown Bezbina in the presence of 25 people after the town had disclaimed any association with him.
 - Speaker Nabih Berri and former President hold their first meeting since the expiry of the latter’s term of office. 
 - The office of reference cleric Sheikh Mohammad Hussein Fadlallah announces Monday as the first day of Eif El-Fitr.
 
July 22
 - PM Tamam Salam visits Speaker Nabih Berri and the deliberations cover the government activity in the future phase.
 - Former president Michel Suleiman meets PM Tamam Salam at the Grand Serail in his first visit since his departure from office and reiterates the need for a wide political front to push towards the implementation of the Baabda Declaration. Salam also receives Taymour Jumblat and Minister of Public Health Wael Bou Faour.
 - Another 6 members resign from the pro-Qabbani Higher Islamic Council thus raising the number of resigning members to 15 out of 32 after 9 members had refrained from attending the Council’s meetings.
 - General Michel Aoun sees no contradiction between his initiative and that of Hariri adding that it does not matter whether the president or Parliament is elected first.
 - The Katyusha rocket fired from an area near Sheba’a towards an Israeli site misses its target.
 - The State Shura Council issues a decision reinstating the new Traffic Law after a Cabinet decision dated February 27, 2013 had annulled its implementation. The decision comes in response to a petition filed by Roads for Life, along with former minister Ziad Baroud. 
 - - Former PM Najib Mikati and MP Walid Jumblat extend their condolences to Haj Hussein Khalil, political aide of Hezbollah’s Secretary General, over the death of his mother. 
 
July 23
 - Parliament’s ninth session scheduled to elect a new president postponed until August 12 due to a lack of quorum. 
 - Following his meeting with a delegation representing Palestinian factions, Speaker Nabih Berri calls on MPs to attend Parliament on Saturday for a session of solidarity with Gaza and Mosul’s Christians. 
 - Lebanese soldier Atef Saadeddine posts a video announcing his defection from the Lebanese Army to join the An-Nussra Front ranks on the grounds that the army is manipulated by Hezbollah and persecutes the Sunni.
 - The Future Bloc calls on the Lebanese to stand in solidarity with Gaza.
 “- I have a tendency to go for parliamentary elections if no president is elected,” says LF leader Samir Geagea. 
 
July 24
 - The Cabinet session chaired by PM Tamam Salam approves the employment of 1200 LU professors as full-timers and the appointment of LU deans. It also agrees to reimbursing the public servants’ salaries and cancelling some of the army intelligence measures in Tripoli.
 - An Air Algerie plane crashes on its way from Burkina Faso to Algeria. The incident claims the life of all 116 passengers, of whom 20 are Lebanese.
 “- The ties are nearly broken between Hezbollah and the Future Movement and there is no contact with the movement up until now,”says MP Mohammad Raad following his meeting with Grand Mufti Mohamamd Rashid Qabbani.
 - The STL announces that its jurisdiction does not include corporate persons. Thus it cannot prosecute Al-Jadeed Television but continues its trial of Karma Khayyat. 
 - Tripoli’s Muslim Scholars Committee holds a press conference warning from the  persistent religious and political persecution of the Sunni and criticizing Hezbollah’s control over the state. The committee renews its call for the release of Houssam Sabbagh.
 - Two rockets launched from Kafarshouba towards Israel fail to reach their intended target.
 - Italian Major General Luciano Portolano assumes command as Force Commander and Head of Mission of the United Nations Interim Forces in Lebanon during a celebration held in Naqoura. Among the attendees were the Lebanese Minister of Defense and his Italian counterpart and the Lebanese Army Commander.
 
July 25
 -c Hezbollah’s Secretary General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah emphasizes support for both Hamas and the Palestinians during a rare public speech he made on the occasion of Quds Day (Jerusalem Day).
 - The Lebanese Forces hold a celebration on the anniversary of Geagea’s release from prison in the presence of Minister of Justice Ashraf Rifi and other ministers. 
 - March 8 Sunni Islamic forces nominate the Head of the Islamic Sunni Courts, Sheikh Abdul Lateef Daryan, for the position of Grand Mufti.
 
July 26
 - Parliament convenes a session in solidarity with Gaza and the Christians of Mosul. Speeches made by the heads and representatives of parliamentary blocs call for accord and unity among the Lebanese parties just like they came together in support of Gaza.  Parliament also demands international trials of war criminals.
 - Iranian Foreign Minister for Arab and Foreign Affairs Hussein  Abdul Lahyan arrives in Lebanon and meets PM Tamam Salam, Speaker Nabih Berri and Hezbollah’s Secretary General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah.
 - Baalbeck’s Ahrar As-Sunna Brigade threatens Minister of the Interior and Municipalities Nouhad Mashnouq and Major Suzanne El-Hajj, Head of the ISF Cybercrime Office.
 
July 27
 - Hezbollah’s Secretary General Saayed Hassan Nasrallah and MP Walid Jumblat issue a joint statement after their meeting emphasizing the need to elect a new president of the republic and deploring the practices of ISIS in Iraq. Nasrallah also receives a phone call from the Iranian Minister of Foreign Affairs. 
 - Dar El-Fatwa announces Monday as the first day of Eid El-fitr, while the Higher Islamic Shia’a Council marks it on Thursday.
 - A delegation of ministers of foreign affairs heads for Mali to pursue the case of the Algerian plane crash and arrange the repatriation of the remains of the Lebanese victims to Lebanon.
 
July 28
 - During his Fitr sermon at Al-Amin Mosque, Grand Mufti, Sheikh Mohammad Rashid Qabbani criticizes Sunni leaders and urges speedy presidential elections adding that parliamentary elections can only be held after agreement over a new electoral law.

 
July 29
 - During his visit to Speaker Nabih Berri, MP Walid Jumblat announces that the presidential election is the responsibility of Christians since some of them are being intransigent in their positions adding that the discussion with Berri covered how to overcome the salary scale bottlenecks thoughtfully.
 - President of the Higher Islamic Shiite Council Mufti Abdul Amir Qabalan holds Eid El-Fitr prayers urging solidarity with Gaza and adding ‘we are living an unstable life and what is needed is to mitigate the woes facing Lebanon.”
 
July 30
 I- srael releases the farmer it had abducted in Sheba’a Farms earlier in the morning.
 - MP Ahmad Habbous shoots himself in the head by accident while reportedly cleaning his gun and is in a critical condition at the Albert Haikal Hospital in Koura. 
 - The Lebanese Army Orientation Directorate announces that the two rockets that landed in Hermel originate from the Anti-Lebanon mountains.
