June 3
- Following his meeting with General Michel Aoun, Saudi Ambassador to Lebanon Ali Awad Assiri asserts that the doors of the KSA are open to Aoun.
- Sunni scholars convene in Dar Al-Iftaa in Tripoli and Sheikh Salem Rafei says that “the Lebanese Army is receiving its commands from Iran and conspiring with Hezbollah to kill the Sunni.”
- Maronite Patriarch Mar Bechara Boutros Al-Rai extends his condolences to the President of the Republic and to the Army Commander over the death of the Lebanese Army members.
- The Army Command – Directorate of Orientation- issues a statement in which it says that the arrested Ghali Haddara has confessed to having smuggled weapons to Ahmad El-Assir’s complex.
- The Future Bloc says after its meeting that it is still awaiting the answer of the Lebanese Army over the Abra incidents.
- Israeli troops abduct two shepherds near the town of Shebaa.
- Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas arrives in Lebanon on a 3-day official visit. His Lebanese counterpart holds banquet to honor him and Abbas reiterates that the Palestinian weapons in camps are under the control of the Lebanese state.
- President, Speaker and Prime Minister convene at the Baabda Presidential Palace.
- President Michel Suleiman receives General Michel Aoun at the Baabda Presidential Palace.
- UNIFIL hands over the two shepherds kidnapped in Shebaa two days earlier to the Lebanese Army.
- The monthly statement of the Maronite Bishops urges all parties to stay away from pumping people up and calls for the banning of illegitimate weapons.
- Iran’s ambassador to Lebanon, Ghazanfar Roknabadi, asserts from Rabieh that Iran is keen of amiable relations with the KSA, stressing his country’s willingness to support the Lebanese Army with weapons.
July 5
- Sheikh Ahmad El-Assir appears in video urging his supporters to rally on Friday and accusing Hezbollah of backing the Lebanese Army during the Abra incidents. The authenticity of the video is met with Skepticism.
- Government Commissioner to the Military Court Judge Sakr Sakr files legal action against 37 people involved in the Abra incidents, 10 of whom, including Sheikh Ahmad Al-Assir, singer Fadl Shaker and their comrades are on the run.
- Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas continues his visit to Lebanon and meets with Mikati, Berri and Salam, stressing that the Palestinians are ready to withdraw the weapons from the camps should the Lebanese state request so.
- Former President Amine Gemayel arrives in Abra and meets MP Bahiya Hariri.
July 6
- Supporters of Sheikh Ahmad El-Assir rally from the Bilal Bin Rabah Mosque in Abra towards the eastern boulevard of Saida.
- A delegation representing Patriarch Al-Rai arrives in Saida to extend condolences and meet the dignitaries of the city.
- During his speech in the honorary celebration held for the Future Movement education sector, Future Movement Secretary General Ahmad Hariri announces full adherence to the Lebanese Army despite the gaps and urges people not to be drift towards armament and war.
- Minister of Energy and Water Gibran Bassil claims Israel could access Lebanon’s offshore oil.
July 8
- The March 14 General Directorate holds an exceptional meeting at the residence of MP Bahiya Hariri in Majdelyoun and blames the anarchy raging across Lebanon on Hezbollah.
- MP Bahiya Hariri launches the “Enough Fear” campaign from Tripoli after having launched it in Saida last week.
- Former French Prime Minister Francois Fillon visits Lebanon and meets a number of officials.
- Two bombs blast at the entrance of Hermel, one resulting in damages to a civilian car and the second injuring two army officers. The Lebanese Army finds a third bomb and manages to dismantle it before explosion.
July 9
- PM-designate Tamam Salam states from the Baabda Presidential Palace that his patience has limits and hints that the government will be formed by the end of Holy Ramadan, stressing that he has no intention of apologizing.
- The March 8 Forces and the Free Patriotic Movement express objections over the judiciary’s appointment of Talal Maqdisi as interim director of Tele Liban, arguing this action should be within the Cabinet’s scope of work.
- In his weekly statement to Al-Anbaa, MP Walid Jumblat replies to Bahiya Hariri’s “Enough Fear” campaign by urging people to opt for caution and vigilance.
- Minister of Energy and Water Gibran Bassil calls for a pressing Cabinet session to approve decrees related to oil excavation.
- Hezbollah’s International Relations Officer Ammar Mussawi receives former French Prime Minister Francois Fillon in Haret Hreik.
July 10
- A massive explosion hits Beer Al-Abed region in the Southern Suburb of Beirut leaving 53 people with minor injuries.
- Minister of Interior and Municipalities Marwan Charbel visits the explosion site and flees immediately when confronted by an angry mob.
- Military investigating Judge Fadi Sawan sentences to death 37 people, including the head of Ersal’s municipality Ali Houjeiry, for their involvement in the killing of Captain Pierre Bashaalani and First Sergeant Zahraman.
- General Security Chief Abbas Ibrahim meets a delegation representing the families of the Lebanese pilgrims kidnapped in Syria and asserts that a settlement is under way to release them.
- Following the Change and Reform Bloc meeting, General Michel Aoun refuses the propaganda against the Lebanese Army and the summoning of some of its members to court on grounds of the alleged violations they committed in Abra.
July 11
- A Syrian rebel group called “Liwaa 313 Brigade” claims responsibility for the Beer El-Abed bomb.
- The Jaafar clan receives the bodies of their relatives who were kidnapped in Syria nearly two months ago.
July 12
- The National Defense Parliamentary Committee convenes in Parliament to discuss the Abra incidents and the Lebanese Army plays a video tape featuring Sheikh Ahmad El-Assir calling for the slaughter and burning of the army members.
- Future Movement MPs express their objection to the participation of Hezbollah in the government.
- LF leader Samir Geagea believes Hezbollah and the Salafists are two faces of the same coin. He describes Sheikh Ahmad El-Assir as being an odd phenomenon and says his stance from the extension of General Qahwai’s term is tied to the circumstances.
July 13
- Israeli soldiers enter into the village of Hawla for some time.
- Former PM Fouad Seniora roams Abra and reiterates his call for the disarmament of Saida and the need to reveal Hezbollah’s hand in Abra’s incidents.
- Judge David Baragwanath re-elected as president of the Special Tribunal for Lebanon for a period of 18 months starting from September 1, 2013.
- The Ministry of Interior and Municipalities calls on candidates to apply forms to refund the amounts they had deposited upon their submission of candidature.
July 15
- The Lebanese Army arrests a pick-up truck loaded with weapons, ammunitions and remote detonators in Ersal. A few hours later, an Army Intelligence patrol detains five people in the Baalbek village of Maqneh on the Baalbek-Hermel highway.The five were in a van that took off from the Nahr El-Bared camp and is reportedly connected to the confiscated weapons.
July 16
- Speaker Nabih Berri reports that whoever calls for the isolation of Hezbollah is pushing Lebanon to destruction.
- The Bar Association appoints 42 attorneys at law to defend the arrested in the Abra incidents.
- In his weekly statement to Al-Anbaa, MP Walid Jumblat calls on quitting the theories of isolation to expedite the formation of the government.
- Following his visit to the Roumieh prison, Minister of Interior and Municipalities Marwan Charbel criticizes the existing squandering noting that the ministry has paid USD 9 million for a renovation that does not cost more than USD 100 thousand. Minister Charbel adds that not using the court existing on premises will entail its transformation into cells for prisoners.
- The Meniyeh Hospital expels 30 Syrian patients who had come for treatment from Al-Qusayr around a month ago due to internal disputes among the owners over the management of the facility that has opened recently. Others claim the patients were expelled for failure to pay for the treatment.
- 200 teachers dismissed arbitrarily from private schools.
July 17
- Two hurt in a blast targeting a Hezbollah convoy on Majdal Anjar-Masnaa road.
- In a speech delivered during the Baabda Palace Iftar ceremony, President Suleiman highlights the need for dialogue stressing that the blasts of Beer El-Abed and Masnaa are a stark alarm. Speaker Nabih Berri, former PM Omar Karami, former PM Salim El-Hoss, General Michel Aoun, MPs Suleiman Frangieh and Samir Geagea were absent from the event.
- Rabih Ahmad, a Sunni man from Akkar has his penis castrated during a brutal attack by his wife’s Druze family, who opposed the interfaith union. The incident ignites severe media backlash for its brutality.
- The Union Coordination Committee launches its 1-million signature petition for the endorsement of the new salary scale.
- Parliamentary session adjourned until July 29, 30 and 31 due to lack of quorum caused by the absence of the Free Patriotic Movement and the March 14 Forces.
- The Future Bloc urges the formation of a government of pacifists, not fighters.
July 18
- Pro-Assad political analyst Mohammad Darrar Jammo gunned down in his house in Sarafand, south Lebanon.
- Pass rates climb up to 81.4% for the General Sciences’ section of the Lebanese Baccalaureate and to 81% for the Life Sciences’.
- Baysour hands over the two men who castrated Rabih Ahamd to the security forces.
- Amos J. Hochstein, Deputy Assistant Secretary for Energy Diplomacy, arrives in Lebanon and meets Lebanese officials to discuss oil-related matters.
- Lebanese Forces leader receives a delegation from Mieh-Mieh and Da El-Sim and reiterates that the effort is ongoing to restore the land occupied by the Ain El-Helwi camp.
- Former French Prime Minister Alain Juppe continues his visit to Lebanon, meeting Lebanese officials and visiting the Municipality of Beirut.
July 19
- French President Francois Hollande calls is Lebanese counterpart and voices France’s willingness to support Lebanon the Lebanese army, stressing the need to form an all-inclusive government.
- The Lebanese Army Intelligence Directorate reveals that the assassination of the Syrian journalist Mohammad Darrar Jammo is rooted in non-political reasons and investigation suspects the involvement of his wife in the operation due to familial disputes.
- The Central Security Council headed by the Minister of Interior and Municipalities decides to withdraw the members assigned for the protection of security figures, majority of whom affiliated with the March 14 Forces, which triggers a wave of complaints and criticism against the minister. Charbel hits back saying that the security members are not domestic workers.
- The Security and Defense Committee fails to convene due to the absence of the Minister of Defense and the Army Command representatives.
- Pass rates stand at 74% for the Socio-Economic section of the Lebanese Baccalaureate and to 78.4% for the humanities.
- Statements of Minister Marwan Charbel prompt the financial general prosecution to look into the squandering reported in the Roumieh prison.
- MP Suleiman Frangieh tells An-Nour radio station there are around 50 000 Syrian fighters in Lebanon, stressing his support to the resistance.
July 20
- Hezbollah’s Secretary General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah assures during his speech at the Iftar held by the Islamic Resistance Support Committee that the party is ready to enter into dialogue unconditionally, underscoring his unwavering support of the Lebanese Army.
- Upon the request of President Michel Suleiman, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants Adnan Mansour files letters to the European countries hoping that they would not blacklist Hezbollah as a terrorist organization.
- Military General Prosecution initiates legal action against 6 members of the Al-Nusra Front for possession of weapons and ammunitions.
July 22
- Speaker Nabih Berri urges former PM Saad Hariri to return to Lebanon and run for premiership.
- Former PMs and PM-designate Tamam Salam hold a meeting at the Omar Karami residence to discuss the issue of unseating Grand Mufti without reaching an agreement over his dismissal.
- Future Movement members head for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to convene in the presence of former PM Saad Hariri.

July 23
- The European Union blacklists Hezbollah’s military wing as a terrorist organization and Hezbollah slams the decision as being unfair and submissive to the US-Israeli policies.
- MP Walid Jumblat commends Nasrallah’s call for dialogue and brands Baysour’s incident as barbaric, urging the Druze community not to be narrow-minded.
- Joint Parliamentary Committees approve the Domestic Violence Law as a preparation to its submission before the General Assembly.
- The Brevet examination results come out in Beirut, Beqa’a and Nabatieh with the pass rate standing at 75.5%.
July 24
- President Michel Suleiman heads for the USA on a private medical visit.
- Head of the Delegation of the European Union to Lebanon, Mrs. Angelina Eichhorst, reiterates the union’s support to Lebanon and its wish to maintain good relations with all Lebanese parties including Hezbollah. On heels of the EU decision, Speaker Nabih Berri announces that Europe is influenced by Israel while caretaker PM Najib Mikati urges the reconsideration of the decision.
- The decision of Halba’s Investigative Judge, Alaa Al-Khatib, to release Karam Al-Bazzi, the accused of murdering his wife Rola Yaacoub in Halba two weeks earlier, infuriates the locals.
- The Lebanese Army Intelligence arrests a Syrian suspect in the Masnaa blast of last week.
- The Future Blob views the EU decision as worrisome and urges Hezbollah to respect the Lebanese state and the international resolutions.
- Pass rates of the Brevet examination stand at 73.2% in the South and 69.1% in the North.
July 25
- Hezbollah’s Secretary General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah slams the EU decision as being worthless.

July 26
- Head of the Delegation of the European Union to Lebanon, Mrs. Angelina Eichhorst, assures to Hezbollah’s International Relations Officer Ammar Mussawi that the EU decision is no pretense for Israel to initiate attacks on Lebanon.
- Bulgaria’s Ministry of Interior releases the names and photographs of two people believed to have carried out the Burgas bus bomb terrorist attack last year. The suspects are Hezbollah members named Milad Farah and Hassan Haj Hassan.
- Lebanese authorities arrest ali abdul Wahed, the Palestinian bodyguard of Sunni Sheikh Ahmad al-Assir, at the Beirut International Airport while attempting to leave for Lagos through Egypt.
- The accusatory body in North Lebanon revokes the decision to release citizen Karam Bazzi, the husband of Roula Yaacoub, hence keeping him under arrest pending further investigations.
July 27
- MP Michel Aoun says he will prevent the extension of the Lebanese Army Commander’s term by all means available and accuses the Internal Security Forces of smuggling weapons.
