This family is named after Sar’in al-Tahta and Sar’in al-Fawqa, two towns located in the Qada’a of Baalbeck, 80 km from Beirut, at an altitude of 1000 m above the sea level. Sar’in al-Tahta hosts a majority of Maronites and minority of Greek Catholics, while the population in Sar’in wl-Fawqa is predominantly Shia’a with a small Maronite community.
