Budget figures
The figures of the 2005 budget law stood at LBP 10,000 billion and rose in 2015 to LBP 23,362 billion, i.e. up by LBP 13,362 billion or 133%.
The highest increase was registered in the budgets of ministries as illustrated in Table 1. The Ministry of National Defense was assigned the highest budget at LBP 2330 billion or roughly 10% of the total expenditure followed by the Ministry of Education and Higher Education at LBP 1630 billion accounting for roughly 7% of the total budget expenditure. The Prime Minister’s Office ranked third with its expenditure totaling LBP 1,431 billion or 6% of the total public budget expenditure.
Revenues were estimated at LBP 15,634 billion including LBP 133.2 billion from suggested taxes and fees as illustrated in Table 2.

Revenues
The estimated revenues are primarily derived from the Value Added Tax followed by income from telecoms and the taxes levied on profits and bank deposit interest as illustrated below.
